THinking about getting a poseing/animation program.

Hi all. Well I’m finnaly thinking of investing in a 3d modeling program so i could finnaly start poseing my models so I’m wondering what I should get?
Here’s my only specifcations
Under 3000 dollars, but less would be better of course.
Hair Capabilities
Works on a mac.
Easy to learn. (I’m learning on my own)
Already downloaded the demos of Maya and 4D cinema and maya seems alot harder to use, I cant even inpot into the “learning edition”.

Anything else I should be looking at?

Look at XSI Foundation with the BHairy/BFurry Plugin from BRogal.
Rigging a biped takes about 5-10 minutes in XSI. They have a great character toolkit for posing and animation. There is a free demo at softimage.com.
Foundation is 500$ and the hair plugin below 200. The cheapest way to get hair. C4D is next and is a lot of fun to use but more expensive. You will and up more towards 1500 when you are done. And you still have no character tools as they are in XSI.

Cool I’ll check that out

:+1: But this is actually a question for the community forum…

i thought XSI dont make version for the Mac

Dang, missed that one. No, XSI only with Dual Boot. That leaves only C4D as good Choice. But even there, you do not have all the 3rd party plugins as Mac versions. A little research won’t hurt.

i think your best bet is Cinema 4D version 10. it has all new features for character animation and modeling as well as rigging. its the easier to learn than MAYA. thats the direction im going also, Cinema 4D. you may even try Poser 6.

Just to let you know, there is a thread specifically for the discussion of other commercial software packages. You can find it here.

Thanks.
