Very nice Work Jim! I loved this Eisner famous character and you did it very well!
The modeling is really good except I knew there was something off about it that I couldn’t quite put my finger on. It dawned on me that it was the arm to leg movement. Even when you look at the cartoon ( as good as it is ), normally the arms swing in unison with the opposite leg.
When the left arm is back, the right leg should be back and when the right arm is forward, the left leg should be forward.
Very complete model, nice dynamic pose… I don’t know the character, but he looks tough and sympathic.
Just browsed through your website: simply amazing!
no,nothing wrong with the pose! great sculpt!
maybe a different shader (not so shiny ?) and render in perspective view ?
Fantastic! I like it very much!
piz, plakkie, WOODY, reminator, and guti
Thank you for the comments!
I think all but the large running pic are in perspective, reminator. Maybe i’ll increase at some point. It’s just a basic material. I have a digital tutors disk on zmats. So maybe I’ll figure out Tri-shaders finally. I hope.
-WOODY-(wally wood?) I think if Will Eisner did the arm and leg action like this, then I’m going to run like this in real life and try to start a trend. <smiley>
very nice work. i love this style very much.
Hey Jim, this looks great! Nice sense of movement going on. How many projects do you work on at a time?! You are quite busy.

Hi Gookle and Heather L.
Gookle, if you like the style check out: http://www.willeisner.com
Heather L., I did this a little while ago. Halloween Kid was done during the month of September. I’ve got two things going right now. Heather sculpted in wax at work. Now she sculpts in Zbrush. Zbrush is not as sticky.
Neat Jim!
I missed this one of yours!
as usual you are so exact in the execution from concept!
i wanna see you rin like that around the studio
we can start a new sport and inaugurate a weekly gymnic hour
Top Row !!! Loved Will Eisner. One of the all time giants of comics. GREAT JOB! I bet if Will were here today, he’d be VERY pleased with this work.
Jim, you’re a wonderfully gifted sculptor. Thanks for sharing.
BTW when leaping, the opposing arm leg pose is not necessarily the rule. Try it; you will look vey much like Spirit, as depicted above, if you’re leaping from track tie to tie. Did it as a kid on an ABANDONED TRAIN TRACK. Will Eisner knew more about anatomy and motion than most of the folks posting to this site.
great work! i like the color shade you chose

I did get to have dinner with Will Eisner and Joe Simon at a Comicon event and they were both great.
fantastic work
Did you do all in ZBrush?
Will Eisner is a legend, you did him justice.
I love it
Bimm.
chandro uttam, Bimm the Stone, Thanks!
Mr Vinck says: fantastic work

Yes. A bit of shifting around in Maya. Not too much.
Thanks,
Jim
Nice model Jim, I don’t think that style of running will catch on.
Eisner and Wood were always inspirations for me.
I still refer to my 1961 Mad with “Superduperman” and “Flesh Garden”

Yes, I think the Mad stuff is very adaptable for digital models. Wood would be great. I can imagine what Jack Davis, or Mort Drucker would look like.
Thanks,
Jim
I’m a big fan of The Spirit. I have a 3d printer and I would love to print your design. Is it available for purchase or download on any platform?
