The Siggraph Scoop Thread!!!!!

Ok the moment we all have been waiting for is here.
I will posting any information I a recieve from Siggraph here during the week starting at Midnight on Sunday.

I encourage anyone else who has any first news post to post as well.
That way we can keep it all in one thread. No limit does not just have to be about Zbrush…Mudbox,Silo,Maya,Max…etc,.

One rule make sure all information has been made public to keep it legal.

Ok lets get it going guys and gals.

Here is a article just release in time for Siggraph previewing Mudbox
More indepth about this amazing new program. Enjoy

ZBrush broke the ground these dudes walk on, broke their teeth on, gave them the impetus to run with the things they found lacking and this is the best they can say…

Comparisons with ZBrush are inevitable. Charlesworth finds that Mudbox feels more an extension of the other tools in his pipeline and that he has never been totally satisfied with ZBrush. © Matt Charlesworth.

Sorry but two of those three got to test Mr. Alon’s thoughts rather extensively if I am not mistaken(could be I am…happens alot) and had a voice in how those thoughts were shaped into reality, given the restrictions of memory, graphics cards blah blah blah, it seems to me Pixologic came up with miracle that allowed the likes of Weta digital to become the award winner it is. I find it, hmmmm sad I guess that some of those that were involved zb2’s development find it necessary to crap on it instead of praise it for giving them their reason for developing the idea that is someone else’s and extending it to fit their needs.

Kudos to them for taking it and running with it…but f*** em for sh**ing on those who paved the way.

hope their successful, hope they have the same kind of community, love of the art of creation that pixologic does…many will follow, one or two will lead us to new directions…yet we haven’t been privy to the new yellow brick road…so …

Lets try to keep it focused on the products and not trashing the developers.
All the developers are working hard on their products.

This thread was created to talk about the new features in each new application announced in and around Siggraph not the people behind it.

Let’s stay focused on that guys and gals.

Hmm…that “tangent symmetry” that lets you work on a posed model seems a nice and usefull feature of Mudbox !..interesting times ahead

jantim

what i care most about no hidden stencils or projection master i suppose :+1: But real 3d sculpting no stretching or not enough geometry and do it all over again but instant feedback. Or what about local subdivision

Can’t wait for these new apps hit the market and lets not forget Maya 8 64 bit  Max 9 :+1: :+1: :+1:

Respect aminuts.

No limit does not just have to be about Zbrush…

I wish on the other hand that the official siggraph scoop thread on the Zbrush community forum would give fair emphasis to Zbrush. I regret the OPs presumption to label an official thread particularly given a history of acidic post wrt Pixologic and ZBrush.

Given that history, this thread may appear to some readers to be a disguised platform for a partisan promotion of ZBrush’s competitors and the disproportionate (and often just plain wrong) amplification of poorly perceived constraints.

Reader beware the breed of subsurface suckers, here dwell soldiers born of unsubstantive slight.

Again the thread is about what is going on a Siggraph. As information comes available about different applications Zbrush included.
There is already a major thread on Zbrush at Siggraph put out by the moderators. However there is other innovations and software others would like to know about. Zbrush is not always a standalone application it a pipeline for most professionals. I use Zbrush in my pipeline and use Max for animating.

So I would like to about know about (Max 9!!!) and it can better work with Zbrush. Does it mean I am promoting Max 9… No!!

Zbrush is not the only application professionals use.

That being said I will have some major news shortly.

Maya 8 released!! Max 9 released!! See full feature list

Props to you for this thread JB, great idea…:+1:

some strange program announced…

Thanks Mr Blaze keep it up!

Is it me or am i missing the new features? I mean sure 64 bit is nice but compiling for a CPU isn’t really a feature… also as these are kinda the last programs to go 64 bit… xsi, lightwave, cinema allready where

It looks like only the small companies are releasing innovative new software, pixologic, skymatter, nevercenter, luxology…

Too lazy to make your own characters then get Darwin.

That’s fun, thanks for the link. :+1:

The updates for ZBrush really sound sweet! To be able to paint in full 3D view is a great update and now I can’t wait to get my hands on it.

Is texture painting also in 3d? Or only sculpting?
