the protos project

here is a head of some protos guy from the game starcraft … a very good old (1998) strategy game
here is a low poly version

and here is a test image of it…i would like to make the eyes glow but dont kbow how…also more details and lights are needed…

good texturing !! very nice.

Hey H! To make the eyes glow, try using either the ‘Glow’ or the ‘Colorize Glow’ material for the eyes…You can ‘tweak’ the material to alter the glow amount and radius…
Here’s an example:

wow great job!!
do exactly what stonecutter says

if that doesnt work just say and ill explain how to do kinda a glow effect using fog

Stonecutter:
why do u have to keep teasing me with ur long awaited Troll Hall image

Very nice! Ahh… starcraft… still one of the most fun strategy games out there. That looks just like one of the characters, though I cannot remember his name. The only difference was that his face had a more beige (sp?) tone to it.

I don’t get to play many video games, but I recognize this one. Great job!

Stonecutter? I thought that was Robo when I saw the picture, then read Tyler’s post and had to go back and see for myself. Very Robo-esque, Michael.

its a Protoss Zeolot!, I bet he has his speed enhancers and melee dmg fully upgraded too!! ;).

Starcraft is one of the few computer games I play, and its plenty of fun still :).

Yeah it is a protoss zealot , I tried to make one a while ago. But i never finishes it :frowning:

tx guys…any way the texture is …not with TM cus i have big problem with this utility…when i do the bumps on the skin with tm i have 2 choices, to pick shaded (but then it also give me shadows i dont want) or to just pick it but then the bumps disappear…so i have to do it in the old way with 2.5d brushes but thats make other problems…i cant change the angle of the model or export the model (with texture) to anywhere ealse.

Hi H, have you looked at the Materials Modifiers panel? There’s a way to “bump” your texture there.
Look at the “Color Bump” slider, play about with that. Bump information is taken from the color values of your texture, and works quite well.
As it is, you have a great model, with a very fine texture. Well done!

hi Filmant…ive tried what u said and it worked preety well but then ive encountered another problem…i want the dots to be flat and the scales to be bumpy but cant get this result…im allways geting the dots bumpy also… :frowning:
im also want to ask if there is any way to use more then 1 material on a model and keep it editable.

this is the exact kind of glow i want!!
vvv

Very well done :ex: I am impressed .

'Nice start the Hydra.

Interesting piece!

You’re off to a good start Hydra.
I did a little image to show how to get materials with texture master or to model with more than one material. Hope this helps

Thanks ill try it!!!
now i just need to know how to do a glow effect like the banner have

Great model so far!!

this might help on the glow effect.

Use the Glow material. Then place some glow lights where the eyes are.(adjust light color too) Adjust intensity and ambient. Also render it so that u can see the glow effect.

Very quicky using what i just said.

It could help if u made the eyes smaller than the sockets. then the glow would fill the socketes and not produce TOO much light around the rest of the face.

how can i set a glow lights inside the eyes?

First, under Lights, choose Modifiers :small_orange_diamond:Type :small_orange_diamond:Glow

Then go to Modifiers :small_orange_diamond:Placement

You should see a rectangle with a “P” on it. Click and hold on the rectangle. Then move ur cursor to where one eye is. Release and the light will be set there.

Repeat on another light but choose a different eye.

I hope this explanation helps you!

I was so dumb!!
my main problem was that ive didnt done a final rander just a preview rander.
After ive figure it out ive started experimenting with the glow and glow effects…this is just a wip with a basic texture that i should improve.
Any way thank you all for the nice and helpful comments, im really using this topic now as my glow guide.
