Neem trees known for their medicinal and insecticidal uses are grown through out the Tropical world. This is an image in honor of these majestic trees. After hurricane Hugo, the first trees to show any sign of life was the Neem, followed by the Hibiscus and Oleander.
DeeVee,
Joe.
nice tree Joe…the Neem looks alot like the weeping willow’s we have around here? I believe also that the willows here were used to produce aspirin? I could be wrong but I think that is what I was told once. btw…its 60 degrees here right now…fall is in the air…
Nice tree, joe
I have a weeping willow in my backyard. They get quite big
Ron, well the weather is changing, the only fall we have down here is a fall out of a coconut or mango tree When the temperature drops to the sixties everyone pulls out there winter garb. you would not believe there was so much winter garments on the island.
Well, I can’t comment on accuracy as I’d never even heard of these trees, but “majestic” is certainly an apposite term, Joe. The bark looks really thick and scultured.
And yes Ron, acetylsalicylic acid (= aspirin) was certainly discovered medicinally from the bark of Salix species (willows and sallows).
Super tree, DeeVee
Thanks for all comments. The bark is a little thicker than I wanted but I decided to let it stay as it was, as I tend not to add enough texture to the bark of the trees I paint.
I must admit I made a big goof with this tree. If you look at it closely, you will notice that the majority of the limbs are growing towards the left, which would indicate that the prevailing winds blew from right to left. Yet if you look at the foliage most of them are growing from left to right. A big goof in my opinion. I do not know how many members would have noticed it if it was not mentioned, but it has been a source of bother ever since I noticed it.
DeeVee,
Joe
I certainly hadn’t noticed it, Joe. On the positive side though I think it does add something to the dynamic flow of the picture. And presumably the wind does occasionally change direction, so maybe you just caught it on one of those days.
