The ogre Workshop (WIP) and really i need ur criticism

Hello everybody, this is my 1st post in the form and I’m glad to be with you gurus
Now I’m a new to zbrush and character modelling and i really wanna ur help
i have chosen a very complicated character and i made this character as a challenge for myself, I’ll need your help during the process of making this character , your tips and tricks and please don’t be hesitate to help me as I’m in an early stage
I’ll now put references that i have chosen to this character and if you can help me with any other reference please go ahead (the 1st one is the character I’m gonna make)

and here is the work flow that I’ll take :
1-making the base body is 3ds max to start sculpting
2-take the model in zbrush and start sculpting
3-sculpting the hard surface armor and the accessories
4-poly painting the character
5-making a low poly version of the character
6-making the maps (normal diffuse and specular ) of the character
7-posing and rendering the character

Thx in advance and plz DO NOT hesitate to help me with even a very simple comment

thanks in advance and I’ll start putting the base mesh by tomorrow ASAPa

Hi this is my 1st update … comments are more than welcome :confused:small_orange_diamond:cry:

Oh man for a beginner thats a pretty big task.
Anyway the base mesh is already too complex, you should have finished it with half the polies you already used. Dont add any forms in max, sculpt all in zbrush, if you hardcore you could sculpt this whole model from a box, but still teh simplier the base mesh the better ;] Wont limit you when setting proportions and teh anatomy ;f

Zspheres are really nice actually, I prefer it over box modeling a mesh. You just shape up your character, convert it to an editable mesh aka “adaptive mesh” button. From there you just sculpt the shape of whatever you make. Starting from the lowest subd.

I guess some people like to make their basemesh in 3D max or other 3D software, but Zbrush does the job aswell aka Zspheres. And when it’s sculpted you can retopologize inside Zbrush which is very easy when you get the hang of it. This way you can actually do all the work within Zbrush before exporting it to another package for rendering/animation/rigging etc, but you could render it in Zbrush too.

Anyway, when making a basemesh in 3D Max, try making it as simple as possible ( You only need the basic shape ). It’s just the fondation that you subdiv in Zbrush, before adding alot of detail. When you’re finished sculpting, you just export your lowres mesh, and add a normalmap containing all the details.

Thx guys but i’m not soo beginner , i learnet zbrush 3 month already and i sculpted some stuff but i never sculpt full body with maps and poly paint
the reason i started with the base model in max cause :
1- it will help me to start with this mesh while making the low poly version (normal map version)
2- it will save me the retpology phase
3- i can make the edge flow as i like so it’ll be better while sculpting
so wat do u think??!!
Really thanks victorcs and slocik for your comments and i’ll reduce the polygons

really thanks and i want you to check my updates

1 months is nothing actually. If you dont want to retopo, your base will be all quad based, with uniform poly distribution, this is not how your low poly should look like, and thats ignoring the multiple subtools thing ;f Edge flow is never important while sculpting, only uniform poly distribution counts, so dont bother iwth it ;]
Just make a simple bash mesh and go too sculpting, since it will take the most time anyway.

your basemesh is an overkill. I d go full zspheres on this one.

conceptual art is pretty cool.

and dont worry about retopology,
