The Legend of Ram

RamFinal.jpg

Sri Ram is the warrior hero of the Indian epic , “Ramayana”.
He is also deeply revered as a God by Hindus all over the world.
The legend says that he fought the demon lord Ravan with the help of an army of vanars(monkeys) to rescue his wife Sita.

I’ve been on this piece for a really long time and finally found the time to finish it. Some of you have seen the model WIP on the forums. Was kinda bummed to notice that my monitor at home wasnt calibrated right, the contrast seems to have got messed up., so I’m hoping this looks ok to everyone.
Base modeled in maya, detailed in zbrush, rendered in max/vray with color correction in photoshop.

High res image here

ooo I never saw the wip of this…
I really like it ALOT.His bow rocks,The shape the detailing.So good :)…
The only thing that kinda gets me is the 1000s of fellas flying behind him.

and here are a couple of raw renders. These are before all the post work in photoshop.
Since the work was done for the full illustration, couple of these might not hold up too well on closeups. nevertheless, here they are…

Top row! 5*

VERY NICE WORK!

Epic, yar!

It looks good, but personally I would love to see somehting a little less caucasian, if this is an indian figure

thanks a lot for the comments guys.
Mike: the epic takes place around 4500 BC so I wouldnt be too sure:)

Someone on another forum wanted to see more gray renders so i’m putting these up. Since most of this was done for the illustration only, only the body has full details…a lot of the other stuff was left incomplete. Hope you like it.(large image warning!!:))

Perfect anatomy knowledge:+1:

Yes that`s a good Pic!
What I like is the sense of motion and the play of muscles/anatomy!!!

Nice work!!

Very nice work and undertake. I especially like the torso and frontal part of the model.

I have 2 suggestions

-His deltoids look small
-In the color pic all the soldiers in the back ground are nearly same size which kills the scale of the image. You might want to exaggarate the variety and scale of monkeys. I do not get the feeling of depth and scale to be honest.

hi…

so should i add details on face or sumthing else…

pls tell me!!!

o ****!!!

soryy dost!!!
i sent u the mail bymistakely…
realy sorry
BTW ur model is amazing…
realy cool anatomy…
but the bg has warriors which doesnt seem at all defined or in focus…
buts thats just me m8

realy soory again:o :o :o :o (thats my embareccd face)

You haven’t seen many indians have you? There are many dark indians but there are also many very light indians, some even with hazel, green eyes, just watch Bollywood for examples. Same applies to arabs, they don’t all look stereotypical or all alike.

Hells angel this is a Great model! And I love the story behind this art.

Mike, here are some examples for you from the great Bollywood.

Sorry to get a bit off topic here lol, I just think it’s important to know that not all people from a country look alike, there can be a great variety of skintones etc, so it would be hard to say that a person looks too caucasian or too black to be an indian. I’m pretty sure Hells angel made him look indian as best as he can. I looked pretty close at the model and can’t really see anything that would make him not indian.
