Ah Klimt! one of the real, real greats! A wonderful source of inspiration and I think, for ZBrush, quite a challenge. My hat comes off to you for trying. I like what you have done so far but, to be honest, I don’t really “feel” Klimt in it.
One of the problems, I think, is that Klimt painted in fairly flat tones without a great deal of 3 dimensionality. Turning that into 3D with ZBrush is not easy and obviously requires interpretation. I would suggest you try to think of light, Klimt’s colours, gold and metallic materials, reflections, sinuous shapes rather than angular ones.
Keep at it, I look forward to seeing more.
All the best
Jason

CHEERS! and yes, klimt is one of my greatest insperations for my work. but looking at the detail he puts into his faces and anatomy then the totally flat areas of texture is what im trying for. i think i might have chosen the wrong peice? maybe “the kiss” would have been better? i really wanted to do “love” but i think i need a lot more practice hehehe.

“the Kiss” Gustav Klimt… awesome.

Awesome indeed! This one does have more geometrical shapes. It also has a lot of gold which could be fun in ZB. I don’t know how much you are trying to get close to the originals or how much you want to use them for loose inspiration. Either way, I think getting the flat areas of texture is going to be difficult when working in full 3D. Have you thought of working more in bas relief?

You prompted me to upload a Francis Bacon portrait of mine over on my thread. I hope you don’t mind.
Cheers
Jason

A brave attempt and one that will surely reap it’s own rewards in the future. Hats off for approaching ZBrush in a very original manner:+1:

cheers Dondemaker and boozy floozie, that means a lot as ive been checking out both your threads. (on the forum not your clothes that would be weird) as i said to Dondemaker i think i got a bit excited about the effects the snake hook tool had on a low poly ball that i used for the hair. i think i should try and replicate the fluid movement that klimt has given his figure in his paintings. anyway, keep the C,C&T comming. keep me motivated. im being distracted by stupid things like work, friends and family.

ok refined render with a tweak to the material and a little more skin work. WHAT. DOES. SHE. NEED. i need a fresh pair of eyes on this. cheers guys!

Round the bottom…

your right. i definately need a much bigger bottom. its some tough topography tho with the detail in the back that ive got. and i dont want to distort the skin either.

and she doesnt have any teeth. ive just realised how obvious that is after looking at this for 5mins. frankly i might as well just sit and look at this image i swear every time i come back to it, it gets worse and worse. but if i try putting too much texture into the skin it looks like shes got lepracy!

hey man, starting really good a model here, altho she need her feminine body look … starting from the neck down to the buttom, i recommened you to study her gesture in the paint, good luck :+1:

amazing what a set of teeth can do for a figure.
