The Dragon Slayer

Ive been working on some concept sketches lately for a project I have in mind. Heres some images of a dragon slayer design. The idea behind it is that he has to do a lot of rock climbing to get to his prey so he’ll have ropes and hooks as well as climbing harness apparatus.

Im going to start modeling soon but would like to hear any suggestions or crits.
cheers

just a few thoguths but wheres his weapon for killing a dragon? kinda seems like uve got a guy who rock climbs, he doesnt scream owt dragon slayer to me, maybe have him use parts of slayed dragons as weopons and armor etc. just try make him look a little bit more individual. if hes a dragon slayer what year is this in? what type of person would slay a dragon? what are his motives for killing them? money or just to free the land becos then u cud protray him as a hero or as a person who cares about no1 but himself. make his equipment look important and individual to him, symbols, cool buckles, cool war paint, tattos, awsome scar (since hes probably faced many b4) just really try add some spark to your design. hope this helps

edit: maybe some cool burns since dragons breath fire. lik his hair really different avin it in a quiff

GE_GRAZE:just a few thoguths but wheres his weapon for killing a dragon
His axe ( which he will have two of) is posted right beneath the sketch of the slayer.
From your post what im getting is that you think there is not enough descriptive or obvious traits to imply his personality or motive.
A lot of the things you suggested I had considered but thought they would be too over the top. There are subtle hints to his motive and his personality
but that will all become more obvious when he is put in an environment.
thanks for the suggestions though.

I like the direction of the design…very nice…style.

cool concept man… can’t wait for the 3d version

i kinda agree with ge_graze to some extent but i’m cool with the subtlty… plus it’ll depend on how he looks in 3d and the details and texturing.

nice concept!

i like the direction that you took and i know your models are as per usual top notch! so i can’t wait to see him coming along in 3D!

I know what Ge_Graze means and maybe give him a necklace of a dragon tooth/claw just to give a hint of him for slaying dragons… otherwise he could be everything else as well…

in the end you can leave him as well how he is actually, i mean even in the movie “Reign of Fire” (which he seems to be inspired from) the dragon slayers look rather mercenary style. he would fit right into the movie

will you make a walk-through for this model?
looking forward to see him done!

dan

Really well done concept. agree with something that would link him to the dragons he’s come across in his day. can’t wait to see this guy fleshed out in 3d. I’m sure it will be great.

Great concept art. Going by your other work this one’s going to be something to watch.

Thanks guys. Heres where Im at so far with the anatomy. Still need to tighten up a few areas like the elbows and hands before going back and doing a detail pass over everything.
