The Bittergrey Triptych sculpts

Hi there,

I have been working on a full-CG, experimental, video series for a year now. As I am releasing the third and final act, I thought it would be nice to share with you the models that I have crafted for it.

The piece showcases make-believe, sculptural installations, and plays with the concept of fading borders between traditional and digital mediums.
It tacitly involves a fictional contemporary artist, depicting a social critique through brutalist aesthetics.

All of the following statues were individually sculpted and posed by myself in Zbrush.

If you are interested you could also check out the final videos on my Vimeo account:

Cheers !

Than you very much Jaime, greatly appreciated.

This is wonderful! I appreciate the sculpting style. As a retired sculptor pushing 70 and just now learning digital sculpture and 3D printing, this has particular resonance for me. I can tell a lot of thought and hard work went into this. Hats off to ya!

Thank you very much ! I can’t say I have as much experience in traditional sculpting as you do , but I definitely put a lot of energy in defining the sculpting style for those videos. I am glad you like it.

Very interesting and beautiful forms. Great job!

Beautiful work! I’m curious how you created concrete or stone material on characters for movie rendering scenes. Is it a texture painted in Substance Painter or procedural displacement from ZBrush?

Thank you Krzysztof. It is actually a combination of both. I did a pass of large weathering and holes directly in Zbrush, and then the smaller grain of the concrete material was from a normal map done in substance painter.

Great. I like your style.

This is so refreshing. Very powerfully communicated with such a terrific style using just enough detail to still leave plenty to the mind of the viewer to complete the rest of the picture. I’m in awe of your talent, skill, and presentation.

Thanks a bunch Jaime. I wish I could make more of those but I am afraid this style will only live on this particular triptych.

I have been working on various other things which I hope I will be able to disclose soon enough.

It’s always a pleasure to hear from you !

This is great! So much being conveyed with a minimalist style. Well done!
