Texture/ZBrush artist for Infinity ( next-gen / sci-fi )

Greetings,

I am looking for a texture artist to work on Infinity, a space and planet based sci-fi game in development. Infinity is an Elite-inspired open-ended game, set in a futuristic universe. It uses a 3D engine that i’ve been developing in my free time during the past 2 years, and one of the main features are seamless space-to-planet surface transitions. Players will be free to explore, fight, trade, do research or missions, form corporations, etc… This engine is based on procedural algorithms ( think Spore, or 64-KB demos ), which means the universe will be populated by billions of worlds, all unique, with realistic scales and dimensions.

The project is currently well under development, but we are starting to have quite a few models ( space ships / stations ) that are in immediate need of texturing. Some of these models are already UV-mapped, some are not. The 3D engine is based on next-gen techniques and supports per-pixel lighting, diffuse + specular + bump ( or normal ) maps + self-illumination. The bump / normal map in particular needs to be of extremely high quality, so i’m still hoping to find somebody who masters ZBrush in order to generate very high-polycount versions of our current models.

The game is still in production and will likely not be released before end 2007. You need to have enough time and motivation to work on it, so mature people with a stable life and social situation are prefered. If you are interested, please send links to some of your best previous works and / or your portfolio.

At the moment i cannot offer any compensation except credits, but if the project succeeds, payment ( as a flat fee, or royalties ) is possible.

Still nobody interested ?

Infinity has been recently featured in PC Zone and might get featured in PC Gamer Sweden, in a 6-8 pages long article, next month. This is a serious opportunity to show off your work and to work with a dedicated team.

Hi,

I have recently started to Zbrush and model with maya7 and max3D 8 and i am loving the challenge, I have followed your links and the game design and Avi well I was WoW’ed I too loved elite back in the day. So getting to my point I would love to try to come up with a ship design or something. Have some very basic skills but of course am willing to listen and learn and will post you a basic idea or two, if you like them great.

Hi first thoughts having read more from the web site. gunship_basic3 copy.jpg

looking into hardpoints and rockets.

Question? Will there be any projection / bullet firing weapons and will there be different effects for different gravities of various planets?

Like the idea of putting a chaingun on gunship for landing on planets.

Ok

Will post more as it develops. Just moved basic mesh over to Maya 7 to sharpen edges and make more industial and less organic.

Hello,

Thank you for your interest. The ship you have started to model is really not in the style i’m looking for. It looks very organic, almost like an animal, while ships in Infinity will be pretty Star Wars-esque / industrial.

There is a contributions section in the forums on the website. In the sticky posts, you’ll have many answers to your questions, regarding the ships design, guns hardpoints, polycount, specifications, etc…

Thank you,

F. Brebion

Hello,

Thanks have looked into your site more, will work more on industrial look for the future crafts/ships ok

hope to post WIP soon.
