Texture is disabling (allowing) matcap changes, really confused

I have a subtool for eyes, and am using a texture on it.
I am using a skin colored matcap for the rest of the subtools,
and am using MatCap White01 for the eyes.

If I use Color>Fill Object while MRGB is on, it fills the eye with the white perfectly. I can change the Matcap for the rest of the model and the eyes don’t change. That’s great.

But when I apply the texture, the eyes start recieving whatever Material is selected. If I turn the texture off, the eyes go back to MatCapWhite. So it’s like the texture disables the Material setting on the subtool. What am I doing wrong? I did due dilligence and looked through google and all the pallettes and don’t see what’s wrong :frowning:

Ah nevermind, I got it. Now that I’m checking, I’m not sure why it worked. I refilled the object with the material I wanted and pressed clone texture. Now it’s working normally.

That method works for Polypaint and its material data, but Texture Maps have their own material data separate from polypaint. It can be found under Tool: Texture Map: Fill Mat.

Ah thanks Cryrid. I believe I indeed pressed that button. That’s really good to know, I appreciate it.
