Terror Goblin

Hello all,

Here is my new project called Terror Goblin,
this is the basis made in 3dsMax, now I’ll begin z-brushing it

test0.jpg

Hello !!

Here is an update, I’ve zbrushed it untill a 4th level of subdivision. Modelling is almost finished, next I’ll begin with bump map.

The aim of this head is to be scaring… expression is difficult to get

Comments needed

P.D. Do you know where can I fing good alphas for simulating skin on the face for the bump map ?

That’s some really good sculpting. Definately has that Goblin appeal.

More, more!!!

Thanks

A simple light test just to be sure he will scare

Well, you did a pretty good job here, this thread deserves more comments !

As far as I’m concerned, to me, it seems you’ve stopped before the details step.

Since your low-poly model, you added a great deal of anatomical sculpture, with your wrinkles, the forehead, the neck… But you could surely add a whole more by thinking about the skin of your character, not just did some texture work on it.
The human skin is rarely smooth, except for babies… Not to speak about goblins ! Adding some imperfections here, some deformation there, little creases, scars, wrinkles and pores… you should get a better result with your horrifying globin. Try to check some old people pictures…

I’m looking forward any updates.

Good luck !

Bye !

Thanks for your comments Davlin
You’re right, is was too smoothed, now I have added another subdivision level with wrinkles, porus, hard skin…

I don’t know if that’s the detail you meant or you meant to change the “base model”.

bye!!

Well it was that way, you understood perfectly.

But, I’m sorry, I don’t think your newly-laid details are good, I had rather the impression that you did that quickly. Try to stick to something anatomically correct, and you should orient your wrinkles the right way.
Think how the skin is bending, how it should move, fall by gravity.

You’re near to be done anyway.

Bye !

Jjeje, yes davlin , you’re right again, i did it too much fast :p, that’s my error, I need a boss like you  !
But since I want this project to be one of my bests I have begun again
this time with a bit more documentation… here is a preview of wrinkles in the eyes area, after I will apply some alphas also. Hope you like it

As far as I’m concerned, that’s much better, indeed.

Try to pick up from the Net some photographs of old people, some close-ups, it will give you some serious and reliable informations about the wrinkles around the eye area.

Good luck to you !

Bye !

Hello!

Here is a wrinkle update. I had to render a big image to see the details…

Verry nice.
Right now it looks sort of like a halloween mask, makes me want to put it on and fly arround on a glider throwing pumpkin bombs at people.
Can’t wit to see it when it’s finished.

Well, honestly, I can’t explain what I have in mind if I can’t show you an actual piece of sculpture… So, if you can’t do better, let’s say it’s good for now.
Please go to the next step.

Bye !

I just started with Zbrush some days ago and all this stuff makes me drop my chin off. Latest image you´ve added is looking good! But I think now you should cut this Details-stuff and work great texture on him. That´s because next model you do has again new chance to make better details with Zbrush. That´s my opinion but I believe this is good enough for now

ahhhhhhhhhhhhh - the goblin of terror!

his expression looks like he is kinda terrified of us viewers! ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhrrrrrrrrrrrhfffgggggggggggargle…:+1:

Thanks all,

Davlin please, If you can, show me an example of what you mean. An image or photo.

Manixolated, funny definition

mutant, I wanted it to be the opposite, that he scares the viewers! I think that when I work the mouth area adding teeth and the tongue it will look more scaring

I’ll work on bump and then color to bring it to life !!!

bye

Great!!!Remind’s me Freddie Krueger except for the ears…

WANNA LOOK?

ALIEN FACE HUGGER
FANTASEA…WIP

MattHHH

sure - when hes got some grotty teeth - he should look much more threatening. the eyes will define whether he looks scary or not i think.

perhaps bunch the brow a little more - really look like hes almost straining that evil frown  be good to see him textured! :+1:

Davlin please, If you can, show me an example of what you mean. An image or photo.
Well, the best way I could show you what I mean would be to sculpt the stuff directly in front of you, with a chunck of Plastilene.

Which I can’t, unless you’re living in Paris, France.

I think a good way to explore what makes the skin what it is, is to try to look for any ZBrush-made LOTR creatures, as far as I remember that old ZBrush ad, they were a pretty good example.

But right now, I think you’d really concentrate on finishing your project, you’ll have all the time to go back later.

Good luck to ya,

Bye !

Ey! Hello all, sorry for not replying earlier, I was ill  for a week

"oh davlin j’amerai aller à Paris pour aprendre ça et pratiquer mon français mais Barcelone n’est pas très proche  "

Here is the model with the color map, I’m still working on it so If you have any suggestions please let me know. After that, I’ll create a bump map.

Thanks! bye…

P.D. I want to do the final render in max, but since the displacement result is not exactly (to many subdivisions needed and high render times) as it can be seen now with zbrush that worries me
