Tech help

So I am a college student looking to get a desktop computer. I have been using Zbrush at school with my digital art courses and I absolutely love it. I would like to do my work from home with a desktop computer that has the best specs for Zbrush to run smoothly, but the thing is I don’t know anything about computers.

I have been working with Macs for a while now and like them, but I am wondering if switching to PC might be better to run Zbrush. Would anyone be kind enough to explain to me what I should be looking for in a computer and what makes Mac or PC better for Zbrush?

Also if there is another thread about this please direct me to it, I looked but couldn’t find it.

Zbrush runs fine on both mac and pc. The biggest difference between the two will be the cost, which as a college student probably makes a difference.

Zbrush actually runs very well compared to other 3d programs. So you should be okay getting just about anything. Look mostly at the CPU, video card, and RAM. Usually in that order.

Don’t forget to budget in a drawing tablet. Personally I think the Intuos medium is about right. The small is a bit too small and the large and XL start to take up a bit too much room, and if you’re going that large you should just get a Cintiq (not the 12 but the 21 or 24).
