Symmetry acting weird on partially hidden mesh

Hi!
I’m working on a model that requires me to hide parts of it in order to see what I’m doing. All of a sudden symmetry is not working, even though I’ve used this method before. I’ve tried resetting, and starting a new project with the same tool, but the issue remains.

This is what I do:
Deactivate x symmetry in order to drag-select (green box) the part of the model I want to work on. I then reactivate symmetry, so that I see the red cursor working on the hidden part as well. But when I’m done, and unhide the hidden part, nothing has happened to it. I can work on it when it’s visible again though…

Ideas?

I’ve tried googleing, but only run into the frequently asked questions about resetting symmetry etc… Thankful for input.

A hidden mesh isn’t just invisible, it is not there as far as Zbrush is concerned.

You can solve this a couple of different ways. “Mirror and Weld” or “Smart Resym” are probably the two easiest and most useful for fixing symmetry.

Thanks! I forgot to check in on the thread. Yes, I know about those methods and ended up doing just that. The weird thing is that I am sure I somehow was able to affect the invisible part the day before I started the thread, even though on further investigation, this should be impossible…
