Symetry when creating Zpheres...

Let’s say I have the z and x axis mirrored, the little green circles will appear in the zpehre and let me put them all together in the center if I just want to create one sphere, but after creating a couple, it no longer allows me to do so. I can’t even see the circles :S. Also after creating the figure, when i try to sculpt it, the symmetry starts perfect on the hip area, and then on the top it’s off grr.

If you don’t have circles, then you probably have Move, Scale or Rotate active in the Transform palette instead of Draw. A common mistake is to draw a ZSphere or two, move them, then try to start drawing more with switching back to Draw mode.

Just a note that many people don’t realize (Aurick, maybe this one can go to the Wiki), you can restrain drawing zspheres to a specific axis or axes…but there is a trick to it.

When you look at restrain to axis in the Transform pallette while using zspheres, the X,Y and Z options are greyed out…but if you put your tool into preview mode (hit A on your keyboard), the options become available. Simply choose your axis, then turn preview off. Your zspheres will now only draw out on the selected axes. In the case of keeping a zsphere centered on the x-axis, you would choose only the Y and Z axes, keeping X unselected. This way, the zifs will not sway to the left or right when drawing them, keeping them perfectly centered on the X axis.

I discovered this after trying and trying to get axis constraint for making the furniture in my Scared Silly entry.

I’ve repeated this information in a new thread, in case this one gets missed or if someone wants to search for Axis Constraint with Zspheres.

Thanks a lot for the replies.

thanks for that tip, Slosh! most handy info.
