I plan to make a jewel in zbrsuh.
i would like to make my base mesh in 2.5d, then make a 3d mesh with it, to culpt it more.
But I would like to make a symetrycal object.
I there a way to do a 2.5d shape, and to work in symetry in the same time?

A very cool site with a lot of model 3D downloadable
Models 3D of Jewel
About Geometry
The function of Mirror, Symmetry and radial are not suffisant ?
And in the ZB2 a function of Re-Symmetry Smart Resymmetry tutotrial by Mtb
All are in 3D not in 2.5 D ! Why 2.5 D ? (it’s more for the painting
Why not directly in 3D?
And the SweepProfile3D tool ?
Maybe with the script Moldy ?
Pilou
thnaks pilou for this interesting site.
The thing is, I would like to draw a fast draft shape in 2.5d, because its very fast to draw a basic shape.
Then grab the shape with the mrgb grabber, to build a low polymesh shape.
Of course it could be done in 3d, but 2.5D would bring me more flexibility (I could erase shape for ex…)
hey seb,
there may be a way to paint symmetrically in 2d and 2.5d, but I don’t know of it myself. However, here’s an idea. draw out a 3d plane, go into edit mode, make it face the viewer directly. turn off zadd and zsub and just paint with rgb. Maybe even experiment with projection master (colors+double sided…somehow, maybe?) and try to come up with way for PM to create the symmetry for you.
…right now I can’t think of a way for PM to do it correctly though.
ding oh, here’s another idea mate. Zbrush has the record stroke feature (which i’ve used before and can be ultra handy depending on what you’re doing). If you can paint one side of the canvas…then somehow use record stroke, but have it reverse the X axis direction, when you play back the recorded series of strokes, it’d paint the other side of the canvas and be symmetrical for the most part…
i dunno, i’m ranting. I hope you find a solution mate. cause it’d really be useful to us all. maybe aurick or pixolator can help give a solution.
happy discovering.
A very easy way is that
Draw something
Menu Layer : Invert the Layer Hor or Vert
Stroke Replay Last
etc…
Of course the replay, replay only between Mouse On / Mouse down
Pilou
Ps I believe that Digits has a Script who draw with Symmetry
I must search
tanks guys for the suggestions…
I fear theres no ways… I willl have to to it in 3d, using the layer brush, painting on a plan with mirorX, I will have to loose time to convet all this into a 3d object…
Also, one very boring thing is that in projection master, you cant rotate an alpha stroke
you cant rotate an alpha
Menu Alpha/ Sub Menu /rotate
And a tricky trick If the Alpha don’t rotate —> Rotate the object before
It’s the same
Pilou
to rotate alphas in PM, select the directional brush tool, then the drag-rect stroke type. you can then drag out and rotate the alpha at the same time. you can also just press R immediately after you make the stroke, and just use the gyro to rotate the stroke.
Edit:
also, aurick, ryan, and/or pixolator, if there’s no way to get symmetry in 2d and 2.5d, could you please consider a plug-in/zscript/or spot for it in the update?
I will put together a tutorial for how to create symmetry in 2D and 2.5D within ZBrush. It’s pretty easy. I’ll post it as soon as I have it completed.
Curious to see that
Pilou
yup, cant wit to see that…!

Just trying to keep the thread alive. Symmetrical painting in 2.5D is something I have been after for quite some time
so? nobody find an alternative solution?
An attempt: You can paint then use grabber and put one of the textures in one plane and other plane with a flip texture.
Sure, but The thing is I plan to do ajewel, symetrycla, so I nwat to have a realtime feedback of my symetry, like when you sculpt with symetry on x…
that sounds like a really good idea ilusiondigital, i’ll have to try that out when I get home.
