Surface normal

hi
it’s me again,
I have some trouble for understanding what is a surface normal.I know there some explications in the onlinedoc.I know wtih a surface normal you paint the 2 sides of a poly. Well free to correct me or add some info
thank you

which way a poly is facing to the user and which direction it is facing to to the user and how they are displaced while sculpting determines wich way a normal is facing while sculpting also if you cant see your polygons and you have to turn on the display properties doublesided to be able to see your whole mesh that means your normals are facing away from you or are inverted. botoom line its always good to have your normals facing you while sculpting. hope that helps a bit.

I would say a surface normal is a surface orientation, it’s symbolised by a vector.

For a flat surface, the normal is perpendicular, like a line at 90 degrees. See here:
