Just u wait till i learn these mapping techniques MUHAHAHAHA!..oh sorry oh yeah…your pics coming along really well and i hope u fixed the back of sups head…hehehe from what i can see youve almost got it spot on but just keep at it and youll get it right:D

Im a little worried about the blue part of the costume…is it supposed to be so light and why is it lighter than the small area below the chin? and i love the background…i gotta start making a city for my sups to fly around in but my texture for his body are just plain colors no special displacement maps or anything…are u planning on doing any cool animations with that model?

Hi ya Dom360,

The dark part under the chin is a shadow form a spotlight, I forgot to turn shadows off. I still need to spend some time fixing the overall texture of suit, hands, belt, boots. I will post a side view soon.

The model is fully rigged and ready for some flying around but I need to work on some blendshapes for close ups, I might investigate using multiple displacements maps. I have him sort of thinking in space then flying around earth and then visting melbourne for a short black.

Well its looking better and better the more u work on it plus ive tried rendering some animation with just basic textures and it kills my machine…so u dont want a ‘super’ hehehe realistic look…just good enough to look good in motion…then u can fix the look afterwards…

ive actually decided to work on a new project cause im finishing off a mark 2 golf and im thinking of doing a star wars character…maybe yoda…we’ll see anyway keep up the good work dude…Superman lives on!!!YAY!!!

Its keeping me busy thats for sure. When rendering animation in mental ray try running it from the command line as opposed to maya. This way maya doesn’t hog you ram as mental ray renders.

Also I think if the final shot is a image then yeah a 4 -5 hr render is acceptable but when animating anything longer than 5 min a frame and dealines start knocking at your door.

I also have a side project I started a while back. Pic is below hopefully someone can guess who it is.
