suitable computer for zbrush

Hi, I’m interested in purchasing zbrush in the near future. I downloaded a copy of sculptris to try to familiarise myself with the very basics first.
What I have found is that I can run the program off and on on my computer before it crashes wih a pop up that says ‘sculptris has stopped working, windows will search for a solution to the problem’.

I’m using a hewit packard laptop with an i7 core and a radeon graphics processor.

If anyone could give me some constructive feedback on what kind of upgrading my computer might need, or what the ideal kind of computer set up is I’d be appreciative.

Also, one more question:
If I buy a lisenced copy of zbrush, as long as I copy the lisence number can I install it on another computer, if I need to get another computer?

Hi there,

The system requirements for ZBrush are found at http://www.pixologic.com/zbrush/system/
Those for Sculptris are at http://www.pixologic.com/sculptris/requirements/

A key difference between the two programs is that ZBrush has been around for 12 years now and has about a dozen post-beta releases under its belt. Sculptris has been around a considerably shorter period of time and is still in the alpha (pre-beta) phase of development. As such, there are still issues with it on certain system configurations.

Also, Sculptris is hardware rendered (relying on your GPU) while ZBrush is software rendered (relying on your CPU). So a computer that can’t run Sculptris reliably will probably have no problem at all with ZBrush so long as it falls within the system requirements linked to above.

Regarding your licensing question, ZBrush may be concurrently activated on any two of your computers, provided that you don’t actually run both copies at the same time. It may also be moved between machines by deactivating it on one and then activating it on the new one. The place where people usually run into trouble is that they sometimes forget to deactivate before uninstalling ZBrush or reinstalling their operating system. However, the licensing system can recognize when that has happened and has tools to automatically create a Support ticket for you so that our support staff can fix your serial number.

Hope that helps!

thanx alot, i really appreciate the feedback:)
