Subdividing but not really

I am subdividing my mesh but that change is not reflected on screen. Am I missing a setting some where that will reflect this change? I included a screen shot. The base mesh is 17k but it is staying the same at 4mil. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds and looks like you didn’t have the smooth button turned on when sub-dividing.

It’s to the right of the Divide button, called Smt. Just click it to turn on.
