Subdivide Smooth Modifier

Hi all. I have some problems with the basic Subdivide Smooth Modifier. I want to create a detailed normal map+texture for a low-poly (triangulate) model, so I need to preserve the original UVs. When I subdivide it ZB literally splits all the edges of the object. I’ve tried with a quadrangulate version but with the same results… Is it possible to solve this without remeshing the entire model? thank you!
