Does anyone know where I can get the 4r7 version for the student pricing? I am currently enrolled in school with 2 jobs, and two young girls at home to support. So I can in no way afford the 4r7 license, but I’m scared to purchase off these 3 party websites. If I was to get scammed it would devastate me. I’ve read too many horror stories. But for this semester a project with hard surface sculpts is my final, and it looks like 4r7 would be incredible for this. Why doesn’t Pixologic handle the student licenses like Autodesk does? Redirecting customers to shady 3-party sites seems odd. Most aren’t even offering 4r7 yet. Thanks so much for any help!
You can do Hard surfaces just fine on R6. I’ve seen people do amazing stuff
like Halo 4 Masterchief kind of detail on R6 just using the clipping tools, hpolish
and extractions. If you’re tight I would save the money and look for free tutorials
online.
I’ve purchased more than one Zbrush license from www.novedge.com
They’ve been great, they’re a certified Pixologic reseller and they charge $649 for Zbrush full license. That’s $150 discount. They’ve always been quick and helpful and the actual serial number comes from Pixologic so registration, activation, and upgrades have all been through Pixologic. They also offer free Webinars every once in a while, I expect another one coming for 4R7. I was a little skeptical of 3rd party sellers but I highly recommend novedge and I found them through Pixologic’s site, so they are certified.
I actually recommend the full version over the academic version. It is $200 more but if you end up not using it you can sell your license and probably get close to the full amount back. You can’t do that with the academic version as it’s non-transferable. That and I don’t think you can upgrade it like the full version.
I am sure most of these third party sites are safe to use. They are afterall authorized to sell the license by Pixologic. After the money is paid, everything else is between you and Pixologic.
It is unfortunate Novedge (and many US retailers) does not sell to overseas customers.
