Great sculpt although he looks a bit “stiffed” with all the gear he wears 
Is he supposed to be a coop but with a football player attire?

That’s what the artistic concept itself says :
This is an old concept for the cancelled project.
This guy used to be a American Football player.He lost his job after the war broke out,but he found a new way to live,to be a civil war hero!
He made a new armor by himself with american football feel,and create a time bomb in the
