Stronger Blur Mask wanted for High Resolution/Dynamesh objects?

Hey Pixologic,

So currently I’ve been using Zbrush a ton at work and have been wondering if there’s a good method to blur my mask more extensively then it currently will. I’ve tried the blur strength option and that seems to do little to nothing.

The problem is when you have a high-res model and try to blur the mask-the blur will only reach so far. If you have subdivision levels, you could always just go down in resolution and then blur for greater blur distance- but now that my workflow has changed to pretty much just dynameshed things(as I’m sure most users have switched to), a broad blur distance is now not possible, as the mesh is too dense in polygons with no subD levels.

This becomes increasingly needed when I’m trying to pose characters that are around 7million for 3D print at my work. (and make it so posing doesn’t take forever :))

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks
Dylan

I recommend using Qremesher to make the object lowres res, then subD the mesh and project. This will let you work in dynamesh when you want, build a quick mesh when you’re done, and pose with ease…eh, my 2 cents.

Hey beta_channel,

Though that is a decent work around, there is also quite a bit of time invested in projections and everything working properly, especially if you have a mesh composed of many subtools(which is quite common).

I think it’s more of a suggestion of an additional feature where you can blur mask “stronger,” much like there is a “smooth stronger” brush made for this type of situation!

This comes more into play with tight production schedules that I’m commonly in at work, where I don’t have time to make low-res versions of all my subtools.

Here’s to hoping a pixologic dev may see this!
