Stormtrooper jedi chick concept (WIP)

there still quite a bit of detail i want to add to this model, but this is it so far, also can somebody help me with a little problem im having, the turntable doesnt wobble, but it slides around when i save a turntable movie, :o how do i remedy that? anyhow, i know im invoking the wrath of some of the more serious star wars fans out there, believe me, im just shy of obsessive about it myself. i do know that stormtroopers are clones of the same guy, no girls, and a stormtrooper with a lightsaber looks odd, but did you know that in the original draft, when the came up with the lightsaber in the first place, they origianally wanted to make it a standard weapon, like a sidearm for the stormtroopers even. little know star wars lore, lol, im a nerd to the core. the nuts an bolts of this are as follows, i used a daz3d model in poser 7, Victoria 4, posed her naked, imported the posed naked model into zbrush 3.12, and created all the clothes, armor, the lightsaber, the hair, and the one shoe so far, all as subtools, constructive criticism is welcome, praise is even more welcome:D , and any suggestions are appreciated, thanks guys,
-Miguel

I am a newb to beat all newbs so take what I have to say with a grain of salt cause I am virtually clueless.

By posing first in this instance I believe you have done yourself a diservice. What I am trying to get a handle on in my very early stages of using Zbrush is how to edit topology. I have been using the free Nick model from another post to try to add clothing, and other very simple items to get a handle on how it is done. My point is that when you are adding the shoe for example, if your model was unposed, you can simply use x symetry to do both at the same time the same as you use it with your sculpting tools. You could have used it for the breatplate as well to ake sure that it is easily matched.

Now I read somewhere else a question about whether this can be done after it has been posed and while my gut says no, I haven’t ried it and I didn’t see the answer to the post.

From an artistic standpoint, If you were to go to the Dragoncon.org website, and look through the convention pictures, you will likley find several women dressed in modified ST costumes to see what works. And I should note that they are HOT!!! Or just google it.

This girl is at Dragoncon every year.

Good luck,

if you are a “newb” as you say you are, my gut tells me that it is only to this specific program, and not digital art. thank you for your advice, ive been doing some study myself on the “sculpt first then pose” issue, and i read that you can import a model, sculpt on it to your liking, then import a pose for that model on a seperate layer, which poses your sculpted model. i havent tried this yet, but it is the very next thing on my to do list. as for the subtools (clothes, etc) out of the box, im pretty sure it is not possible to move the model (i.e. pose) and the subtools as one unit, however, there is a program available on this website called subtool master which can acheive this for you. i have also yet to try that, but i will post updates as i figure these things out, i am also very new to zbrush, this is my first semi serious project, and i really want to make it look good. thank you for the link, i am going there now to check it out, ive been looking for reference pictures, i appreciate your contribution, thanks a milly.

Okay, an answer to at least one of your questions. You can transpose your subtools with your base mesh. You have to get a free plugin called Transpose Master.

Don’t forget to restart Zbrush after you have ‘installed’ it.

That is the link. The link in there to the video doesn’t work but I have seen another video on how it is done just not sure where. I think it might have been in the Zbrush Classroom. So make sure you read through the instructions in the post before you close it down so you have the basic idea.

This will allow you to add your subtools pre-transpose using symetry and still be able to pose her later with all of the subtools going where they belong.

Good luck,

Wade
