Hi when importing a rhino 5 model as an stl file it appears really dark to the point I can’t see what I’m doing.
Any ideas ?
Post your entire interface. Press V.
Change colors. Change materials. etc.
so heres the interface.
if i turn poly frame on I can see it a bit better and is a high polygon mesh
Also if i dynamesh it, its black but if i turn polyframe on again I can see it but still darker than normal.
I did up the polygon mesh when I exported from rhino as when I have tried before it imports fine but when you start sculpting holes open up all over the place ?
The active color is black. Select white, or the desired color. A tool without polypainting will display the active color by default.
[dupe]
Still really dark ?
any ideas ?
Dunno. I see that you are using an out of date version of Zbrush though. Why don’t you upgrade to the most recent version (it’s free to registered users), and let us know if the issue persists.
Did you press V?
There are two colors on the bottom left of the screen. The left one is the secondary color (in your screenshot white). The right one is the main color (in your screenshot black). You can press V or click on the ‘SwitchColor’ button just below the color swatches to switch between the colors. The model doesn’t always update when you change the main color. You have to click inside the work window to have it update the colors.
If it doesn’t change colors when you press V (switchcolor) or change the main color then it’s possible the model (subtool) has polypaint turned on. Check the setting Tool -> Polypaint -> Colorize button. If this is on (highlighted) then try clicking it off to see if your model changes to the main color.
If polypaint is turned on and turning that off fixes it then it’s most likely that on import it applies the main color as polypaint information. In your case you have black as your main color and so it’s applying black as the polypaint color. Changing the colors when polypaint is on doesn’t change the model. To erase the polypaint and material information then apply a white color along with the flat color material with Color -> FillObject and make sure mrgb is selected.
