Star ZSphere Problems!

Hey guys

I’m new to ZBrush, but I have a quick question about ZSpheres.

I’m trying to make a star shape using them.

So here’s what I’ve done:

Select ZSphere tool.
Create big ZSphere in middle of screen.
Turn Symmetry on X, Radial, count 5.
Go into drawing mode.
Draw a small ZSphere at the top of the big one, which will draw a total of 5 due to the symmetry setting.
Move top ZSphere to top of screen (which will move all symmetrically).
Preview mesh.

And it is completely screwed up
It’s all non-uniforly meshed, which is weird because it is perfectly symmetrical!

Such a simple first ZSphere model I chose to make, a star, and still it turns out wrong, typical! lol

Can anyone help me out here?

Thank you!!!

First, download XYZ Adjust plugin, install it and read the documentation.

Finally, take a long, leisurely look at Jason Belec’s definitive thread on sculpting with ZSpheres, take the time to do the exercises…

Jason Belec’s - “A Little Challenge”

Remember to think of the ZSphere as multi-faceted geometry, the simplest ZSphere is really a cube, and when you build on it, you are extending the faces.

Use Xres, Yres, Zres to determine the number of faces for each ZSphere node - for instance, use XYZ Adjust to edit your star’s root ZSphere: x=5, y=5, z=5.
