Standard Brush Has Ribbed Appearance

In the attached image, you will see that my Standard Brush has a ribbed appearance, even at high resolution. The image shows a standard sphere subdivided to 2 million polygons. The ZBrush environment is the default environment, as it is a new installation of ZBrush 4r8. The stroke is a simple test stroke using the Standard Brush with all of the default settings. While the stroke looks generally ok, you will notice that there are a series of semi-circles all along the stroke (hence the ribbed appearance).

Why does the stroke looked ribbed? It is as though the stamp spacing is off slightly.

My computer specs are as follows:

Windows 10 Creators Update
Intel i7 5960X (8 core, 3.0 Ghz)
64 GB RAM
(2) NVidia GTX 1080 Ti (11GB VRAM each). These are not configured in SLI mode.
Cintiq 27 QHD

Any help would be appreciated.ZB_Ribbed.JPG

I tested this on a brand new Alienware 17R4 laptop. I am getting the exact same result (i.e., standard brush appears ribbed).

Is this the way the standard brush is intended to look? If so, then I will just roll with it. However, I don’t remember that being the case. Can someone offer guidance?

Note: My desktop is a few years older than my laptop. The only common element between them, really, is the graphics card. My desktop has (2) GTX 1080 Ti and my laptop has (1) GTX 1080.

try turning on lazy step with stroke set to .01
