space navigator! need help!

Does anyone know if the "3d connextions " space navigator can be used with zbrush? i cant get it to work on windows xp + vmware fusion. it works awesome in photoshop and everything else on the mac.

Nope…I saw it at Siggraph and asked because I wanted to buy one, sorry.

I like it alot. has anyone tried the logitech Nulooq? any luck in that direction?

are there any other devices besides wacoms that can be used with zbrush for rotation, movement, etc?

ok, i went out and spent 49.00 on a shuttle express from contour design. be sure to down load the new driver. 9 programable hot keys… magic at your finger tips. :ex:

tell me more about this? how does it work with zbrush?

you can set all of the keys. for what ever you use most. find the hot key or combinations of keys like “select” for example the most awkward of key combos, to just one button. you have five buttons one under each finger and 2 turn dials with two moves each under your palm. i like it. it makes masking, selecting, right clicking, adding and subtracting a cinch. your hand rests in a nice ergonomic setup. it has my vote for “cool cheap new toy!” it also can be set up for a slew of other programs.

Hi Skullbeast,

Because of your enthousiasm I bought the ShuttleExpress.
But… I could not find ZBrush or Poser on the applicationslist.
After installing the CD of ShuttleExpress I opened ZB and I could not move the Tool in the window with the Shuttle.
Maybe I need to do some install-things in ZB?
Please give me some help so I can be as glad with the device as you evidently are.
Greetings, EddyL

be sure to download the new driver. i assigned all the hot keys i wanted to the shuttle and called it custom 1. you can pick and choose what ever you wish to use as hot keys. and for poser just start a custon 2 and set it p the way you need that one . if you are using a mac, only install on the mac side and be sure to plug in your usb when it is on mac. then switch to vm fusion and it will stay active. i hope this helps

Thanks Skullbeast for your answer.

Indeed I can program the device, but … I thought I could use the two turning parts in the center of the Xpress to navigation in the 3dspace, like zooming in/out (the inner spring-knob) and rotating the camera around the central object (the outer wheel)
Did you manage to program these wheels in this manner of is that not possible.

Greetings, EddyL

no as far as i know no 3d navigator is directly compatable with zbush in the move and zoom sort of way, but if there is a hot key for it, your in business. i set up the jog on mine for undo’s and redo’s now that sweet.

Nostromo game pads work well because they emulate keyboards.
