Somehow cutting a body shape from a 3dplane?

Hello and thanks for your time,

I’m just trying to get a the shape of siloutte of a human body in the frontal position from a 3Dplane with many quads.
So that I just have a plane showing only the body and the rest is deleted or masked.

Is there away to delete the plane outside of the body shape? Or is masking it the only way?

If masking it is the only way, is there a way to mask it by drawing around a spotlight or image planed body figure, so that I just keep what is inside (the body) and mask the outside (negative space)? Otherwise it would be close to impossible to use the lasso tool to mask around a complex shape like a human body.

Please advise, thanks, L

I’m not sure.
If you just want a silhouette of a human body shape try this -
bring in the silhouette image as an alpha an use a 512 res shadowbox to create it then Dyanmesh that to get quads then up the Geometry for higher res.

Excellent tip!
Shadow box looks good but I can reduce the thickness. It seems to cut like a cookie cutter with too much thickness. Cant seem to reduce.?

another idea I tried was apply the siloutte alpha as a mask right on the subdivided plane and went into visability and hid the negative space. It seems to work for now!
thanks again.

To get it thin shift and drag to line up the model the way you want it
then use Shift and Ctrl at same time and the drag the green square (what ever is green will not be hidden) and that should give you a thin as you what ztool - when you get the thickness you like use go to Geometry > Modify Topology and click on DelHhidden.
Then save the ztool.
