Some (45) Free Textures base images

I’ve been working on some textures and alphas, ok, at least I thought I would but I ran out of time. As it might take some time till I can get back to them I have taken the base images (45) and put them in a zip file ready to download for those who are interested. Where they are coming from? Well, the earth surface is such an abandon source of random patterns that I had a closer look at satellite images of the deserts of the world. I’ve found these rich colors and forms that inspired me to do some textures and alphas for ZBrush. I hope they are of use.

I hope, I’ll have time to make the actual textures and alphas a bit later.

in case they are not copyrighted, these are greatly appreciated!
There are not many good free textures on the web. Lemogs are the only ones i often use. However there is a wealth of public domain high res photos on the web, but you still need to crop them and make the tileable which can take up to half an hour per texure. So sharing your textures is very generous. THANKS

E.

These are great they make pretty cool effects as alphas.

Thanks for the album, frenchy. I got the images from a friend who does geological surveys. They might actually be Google but I am not certain. He told me, however, they are public domain. Google Earth was unfortunately not available for mac last time I checked.

Erklärbar: I haven’t made them tileable yet. That’ll be the next step when I find a bit of time. I’ll put those tilable textures up as soon as they are done.

Evan: That’s what I thought too. I made a few test alphas from those images and they work great.

Thanks so much for sharing these drmpl!! And also to you Frenchy!! I haven’t looked at them yet, but I’m always looking for new textures!
