[SOLVED] - Can anyone give me an idea on how I might make a glass globe?

Hi guys,

I am making my first ever ZBrush project and I’m making a snow globe. (Pictured below). Does anyone have any idea how I may go about making the globe?

There will be scene inside the globe that needs to be seen so it’ll need to be transparent but still reflect shine. I thought about making it in Maya but I’d really like to do it all in ZBrush if possible.

Currently there is just a polysphere with a gel shader attached. Any tips, or a link to a tutorial would be most appreciated

Keep in mind that ZBrush doesn’t render glass like other 3D apps do (Raytrace). It basically just makes a subtool transparent. To enable transparency for any particular subtool, first select the subtool that you want to be transparent. Then go to Tool > Display Properties and enable ‘BPR Transparent’ button. Then go to Render > Render Properties and enable ‘Transparent’ button. Now when you click ‘BPR’ button, that subtool will render transparent. You can adjust transparency settings in Render > BPR Transparency submenu.

If you want a reflection map on the globe, you can add one in Light > LightCap and click on ‘Txtr’ button after you import the texture in the Texture menu.

Thank you so much for the suggestion! It was really helpful:)

Unfortunately my transparency button is grayed out, would there be some setting that caused this?

EDIT: Disregard I reinitialized ZBrush and it works now! Thanks so much
