[solved] Batch Remesh

I’ve been searching in the forum for a while, but it seems that there was no update since 2016 on this topic. I hope that the new release can help. I’ve got a lot of subtools that need remeshing for a project on human body. I can import them (50 at time) in zbrush via GoZ. Everything is going fine, but is there a way to tell zbrush that I want a zremesh in batch for all of them without doing it manually ? Any help appreciated !

Clarify, if you could. Do you want to:

  1. Remesh all of these subtools together into a single mesh

or

  1. Remesh all of the subtools individually, but automate the process? (IN this case, there is no native function I’m aware of for it, but perhaps someone has scripted something–maybe check the scripting forum.)

Would it not be easier to save a new version of the tools imported, load the previous version to the tools list, merge visible, auto group by topology, zremesh, then group split.

If you needed to reproject details, merge your original visible subtools at their highest sub-div, make sure they are all at the same subdivision level. Append the new zremeshed subtool and project all, then group split.

That’s how I’d tackle it anyway.

@ Spyndel I would like to 2
@ Bangers I will check and try to do it  Thanks for the suggestion

In that case Bangers suggestion is the one I’d pursue, as ZRemesher keeps separate meshes separate, even with they’re merged into a single subtool. However you’ll probably have to do it in a series of smaller merged tools, because ZRemesher performance slows significantly with a bunch of separate meshes to track, and it sounds like you have a lot. You’ll have to find the sweet spot that doesn’t hang your computer.

I’ve followed this path

  1. export from modo via GoZ
  2. imported in zbrush
  3. merged, autogroups
  4. weld points
  5. zremesh

the downside

  1. GoZ still have problems could not export more that 20 subtools without loosing some of them (probably it can be fixed just exporting the obj and importing them directly in zbrush without using the GoZ
  2. QUITE IMPORTANT: merging all the files mean losing all the names of the subtools that are quite important by my side

IMO a batch remesher would be a great feature to add (also since 3d scanning and printing is getting momentum) Any idea for a workaround ?
Thanks

thanks for the suggestions ! Also thanks to the script forum I’ve found a solution that can be applied to thousands of objs
