What’s better between Maya and 3ds Max?, Why much more people choices Maya over 3ds max as far as i’ve seen on the forum?
The best app is the one that offers the most features you want for the best price that you’re comfortable with, while providing the interface/workflow that you’re the most comfortable with.
These variables will be different for each artist, and so there’s no good answer to your question.
I’m a 3ds max user and… I like it a lot but using it in a zbrush pipeline is realy anoying. The Obj exporter from max doesn’t keep the same vertex order so if you go from zbrush to max (to make UVs) and back to zbrush, it won’t work.
I have to agree with Olivierth. If you’re planning on exporting/importing between application, Max is useless… And I know that because I use it on a daily basis
I learned on 3Ds Max, but I recently started learning Maya and I think it’s an overall easier app to use…that’s just my opinion, and I formed that opinion because I used both applications and prefer Maya
You should use both and figure out which you like better. Both have their pros and cons…Like Mac vs PC…silly argument. use them both, use what works for you
neither. blender–it’s free and kicks bootang. best uv unwrapper around… and check out the features of the newest release…

…and there’s always more to come, free of charge. download the latest open-source movie made with blender, Big Buck Bunny… or rather, buy the dvd and support future development.
Thanks mates for your opinions have been very useful
