Smooth shading

can someone help me out with this, I cant find any info in the practical Guide, all I wanna do is apply good ol’ fashioned smooth shading to my model so I dont have to look at the poly edges while Im painting. I tried the the display/Dsmoothe and that didnt do anything,

Thanks a lot! kris

Not sure what you what but you can subDivide the model.

Or with an imported mesh ( or pMesh 3d )
goto the tool menu–> display properties.
Set dsmooth to 1. Then on the top left of the interface toggle off the quick edit button ( “f” hotkey ). You did this before but did not turn off quick edit.

Yep that was it, thanks alot, at first it just made smaller facets, but then I cranked up the draw resolution and that smoothed it out, Yeah all I was trying to do was have my model display as smooth shaded.

Thanks alot!

This actually changes the polygon count and smoothes the model as well (like dividing the model without actually dividing it). Isn’t there a way to just have the model smooth shade edges without actually changing the poly count?
