is there a way to use the Smooth Groups Brush from Lightbox and preserve the volume/shape flow of the mesh?

If you hold Shift to activate your smoothing brush and then hold down Alt after the smooth stroke has already started, it activates an alternate smoothing mode for the smooth brush that will attempt to preserve the volume to a greater degree.
