Small Issues I am encountering in ZBrush - Need Help

I really love the program and it is literally changing my life, but as I continue to learn and improve, there are some minor, but very annoying things I would like to get them out of the way:

  • Is there a way to rotate a mesh/model and have it rotate horizontally? I am talking about restricting rotation around X-axis.
  • Why is it that I can’t open a saved project straight from a finder without getting error message? The only way I can do it is by using a Lightbox.
  • A very re-occuring problem is all of a sudden the mesh I am working on stop responding and when I happen to drag on the empty space, a new one comes up, now I have two, one that doesn’t respond that stand in the way and a new model. What could I possibly be doing wrong. This happens a lot. I know about the need to go to Edit Mode right after adding a Tool, but sometimes this happens when I am deep into my project.
  • When I bring the model to Cinema 4D using GoZ, the model appears facing forward as usual, but in other Ortho views, he appears facing the opposite direction, so the right will be left, front will be back. This becomes a major problem when rigging. I tried it with a Character Object and the model ended up walking backwards. The problem goes back to how C4D treat the importation of the model. How do I fix this?
  • What’s the best way to sculpt a mouth and fingers?

PS. Primarily I use ZSphere to create a base mesh. I have decided to focus on that workflow before I try alternative ways.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

If you want to actually rotate the model, you can use the Tool: Deformation: Rotate.

If you just want to lock the ‘camera’ rotation to the x-axis, you could try using the Transform palette to turn off XYZ rotation and limit it to X-only. I find these controls to be pretty weird though.

This could be the result of stamping the model with Shift + S, which stamps the current model down into the document’s pixols. Whenever it happens you can just clear it away with Ctrl+N and keep sculpting on the tool.

The Cinema 4d problem I can’t really answer since I’m unfamiliar with that program. Is it as simple as rotating the imported object to face the direction you want?
