Slicing a model for 3d printing

Hi,

Beginner here… I’ve downloaded a model of a picture frame and I’d like to cut it into clean parts to 3D print. I’ve followed a tutorial that tells me to cut it in half with the slice curve brush and use “fill holes” to close the open edges.

The fill holes command is not following the contours of the edge accurately.

Should I be using Dynamesh to slice up a model? I seem to not be able to have a high enough resolution to keep the detail.

Do a slice instead a trim and then use the option close holes in zmodeler-edges-close

This is the option close holes, that is used by the trim tool and that doesn’t work as well
