Size Matters

I’m experiencing a weird scaling issue with Zbrush.
I created a mesh in Maya, exported it into Zbrush to tweak.

Upon importing it back into Maya - at first, I couldn’t even find it.
Only after zooming waaay, waaaay back did I discover that the object had imported in at an ENORMOUS size.

Any ideas of what could cause this issue to happen, or how to fix it?

what are your export settings for your mesh inside Zbrush, and Maya?
What file type are you using to transfer between the two?
does GoZ produce the same result?

GoZ crashes the system for some reason, so I’ve been importing and exporting objects with these settings:

well your export scale appears to be 7701…so, 7701 times the original size.

put that to 1 and see if you’re all good.

First of all, beta_channel, let me say that I LOVE how you’ve handled your demon creatures. Especially the way that the interior of the mouth is displayed!

Secondly, I really appreciate the expert, exporting coaching that you gave me. The mesh is coming in just fine now.
So thanks tons for that!

Third - I have another issue that you might have some insight on.
I imported this normal map, from ZBrush into Maya, that seems to have included the polygon grid as part of the mesh.
Have you ever experienced anything like this, or can point me to a tutorial that might address it?

are you generating your normals in Zbrush?
I really don’t recommend that. Zbrush tends to give weird results in a lot of situations.

I’d give xNormal, substance painter/designer, or Maya a go.

Coincidently, I just discovered a tutorial that might help me do that, at the precise moment that you replied.
Thank you for all of your support!

can you tell me about the tutorial
