simple brush with texture - always flatmat?

i assume this has been adressed in the past as i dont think its special to the new version, but i happen to have run into this for the first time: is there a way to paint with simplebrush and a texture on with another material than flat-material? lets say i choose a texture and basic material, paint something via drag-rectangle-stroke, then change col.diffuse settings and choose a colour for the box in material settings, try to add color bump or somesuch - as nothing changes i check out the material via drag cursor from material window (which still shows basic material) to canvas and - - it says flat material now  this doesnt seem to happen using other 2 and 2.5d brushes that can paint textures, just simplebrush.

Hello Juandel
It’s seems that you right
But a little trick for simulate that
Create your object or painting with material, lights, wished etc… in a neutral color than white !
And now you can brushing with your brush + texture + DragRect Stroke mode!
The brush + texture is like transparent(I put MRGB Intensity to 100) I don’t know why, but it’s work ! Pilou

Try a two step approach.

Make your first stroke with no texture, just material.

Switch to RGB at 100% intensity and no ZADD

Replay your stroke.

The first stroke will lay down the material that you want. The second stroke will paint on the texture color.

 it’s like the inverse than my method but with more panache !
And with a ligthening use of this myterious “replay stoke”
Bravo !
Pilou

thanks, Pilou and Matthew  works like a charm! :+1: :+1: :+1: love those zysteries (though i spent two hrs. yesternite trying to find out where my inner idiot took over :D)
