Silver Unicor

Hi everyone,
again some time for fun & exploration…

The “Silver Unicorn”, I have always been very fascinated with this beautiful creature, I have created it the way I imagined. The creature is mystical & magical, not seen by man. here it looks as if it stopped for a second to examine you with intelligence, almost as if it wonders…again it looks mysterious and almost dark…

I created it between Modo ZBrush and Lightwave, on Mac & PC

I hope you like it, it would be nice to here your comments…

This looks very cool. I was just reading your interview on Luxology website:)

My only crit is: the horn looks like it would weigh alot. If you want that much length, I’d make it thinner. It seems like just too much mass for such a delicate creature.

Hi guys…thanks for the nice comments!!!

cool… This is only my fantasy version of the look, I have seen hundreds of versions on the net and in books, usually the artists make the creature look soft… or feminine…

I was imagining it to be & powerful strong & for sure no a Horse…:D:D

Hi Khalid, I´m a great fan of muharraqi-studio works,
and this image is AMAZING!!!

I love the render and the pos production as well the modeling, very original concept!! a dark version of unicorn for sure!!

Regards

F@ck man! (sorry had to swear) I think you did your description justice.

THAT is not your average sissy-pony. I really like the look in his eye(s).

Now that you mention it, I never really wonderd why unicorns were always decpicted as really cute and huggable… They DO have a fking badass horn sticking out between their eyes.
Then again, maybe it is because they couldn’t hit a thing with it because they only have peripheral vision…

anayway good job, really like this.

Cool. I must say though that horn is rather large and ill placed for correctness. That said it is a good picture. Except maybe for the muzzle, awefully small. Are the feet cloven? That is sorta interesting.

HeheHE… Thanks guys, thats very nice of you
Anatomy and positions are based on imagination or a version of an artist, there many of those…all look weird or exactly like a horse, this is only my version. again this is not about looking realistic or not, it is just a simple thought when I had time to practice…
Saying all that, I feel like this image is my contribution to the many many unicorn images created threw out time

here is an arabion award whining horse, these horses have tiny muzzle, I will give you a porfile soon, but again I was in the mood of creating the look I amagined… and with ZBrush… the sky is the limet…

before ZB displacement the model is 3,400 polys, after it renders 2.2 million polys.

will post screens soon…

thanks again for your nice words and all your lovely comments…

Wow…what a beautiful scene… Very nice model and render…this belongs to the top row!!

The horn seems a tad too thick at the base in relation to the rest of the horse. But overall, WOW, fantastic piece!

WOW! Your the guy who made the spectacular whale island too? Same highly detailed illustrative style. Reminds me of a baroque painting. How did you model the hair?

hehe!! thanks guys… always happy to post in ZBCentral… Just feels like home

well about the hair it was done on LW I will post more details and different tests to make it easier to understand.

here are the ZB screens

perfect with Modo…!!!

here are the models created originally in Modo…

Here are some screens of Bones setup on LW, I only did this to be able to start posing it after displacments from ZB for my sets in LW…

The lower one is after displacement, original model was about 3,400 polys after displacement 2.4 million polys

I will post up more stuff about the set and hear;)

Hi all, here are some more screens to help understand the process

WOW!
This is really, truly some awesome art.
I love it. Though if you don’t mind I have one, small critique :stuck_out_tongue:
In my opinion, your unicorn is rather skinny, and the horn seems very long and heavy, logically, I would think the poor thing would have trouble holding his head up
But otherwise, I really love this piece.
Fantastic work

Very very nice work!:+1:

well thanks guys!!
happy you liked… I hope I added a bit to your work flow

Hey Khalid, Awesome image man, also loved your whale image as well. I have a similar pipeline, Modo -> ZBrush > Lightwave. I’m working on my first image and I was wondering if you could help me out with a couple things. Do you Texture in ZBrush or Modo? And do you apply your normalmap in Modo or Lightwave? Do you know of any tutorials out there that could help me out. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance and again awesome image.

Hi…
thanks
great!! you are doing the right thing…

I UV texture in both ZB and Modo, I do my final settings in LW

the normalmap are setup on LW, I am curntly working on a video tutorial fo normals on Modo… soon it will be up

good luck bro… you are on the right path…
