shoes hole

Hai all,

Just a basic question. And I need and advice.
Which way is the best way to create a hole for the rope in the boot or shoes?
I found difficulties to create them with symetry in zbrush.
should I make them as a different object?

Thanks

Hi, I am not expert, but I would shift to the lower subdivision level and will select the polygons that I want to ā€˜bore’ and I would invert the selection so that from the geometry subpalette from the tool palette you can delete hidden polygons.
I would also make an edgeloop of the part before boring it.

Since I am really a noob if anyone else has a better solution I would be happy to read

Hi ZioRip
I found the way, I don’t know if this is the best way too, but
I just make my own alpha and use a projection master to project the alpha as a hole. So I can make as many hole as I want in the high subdivision level.
If I have to go back to the lower subdivision, I think I just can make less hole because of my base mesh. or not?
thanks anyway for the respond :)

Good point
I’m not yet confident with alphas (I just started to understand 3D and I don’t have any prior experience), but it is great to have a try with your technique when I need to make holes

Then I’d be glad to see the result of your work

+1 wanna to see the result

Hi guys,
Here you can see the result of the ā€œholeā€ from the projection master.
It’s not really a hole, but it looks like a hole.
I don’t think it looks that bad with projection master.
Just give a try

It looks good, thanks for sharing!

hide mask, then delete hidden?

Perhaps an alternate solution not using projection master:

  1. Mallet Brush (In your main default brush palette set) set to zadd

  2. Add Mallet Brush sized down a bit, set to zsub and centered in the middle of the previous stroke

  3. see above but add rgb (color black) to the inner stroke.

  4. Same as number 3, but followed by ā€œmask by intensityā€ to mask the hole. Then you reverse the mask and in the deformation palette offset the now unmasked black circle in the negative z direction a bit to create more of a ā€œholeā€

Thanks all for giving the alternative.
It’s really usefull.
