Shift Ctrl Alt Space on tablet computer

I just bought a Lenovo x201t tablet computer and am working on the optimum setup for tablet mode. This box has both pen and multitouch input.

Obviously, Shift Ctrl Alt and Space are needed constantly so I’m looking at ways to get these as Zbrush buttons or overlays.

So far I’ve tried a couple of keyboard overlay utilities which don’t play well with the combined input modes, so I’ve been trying to make Zbrush buttons for these inputs, without success.

Has anyone else run into this?

Pretty sure you need to set your hard buttons to act as those functions when working in zbrush.

The new models have fewer buttons than the previous models. Specifically, they no longer have the 4-way rocker button. Now there are 3 buttons you can remap with autoHotKey.

this should be right up alley. http://www.zbrushcentral.com/showthread.php?t=93002

That was very useful, and was where I learned of autoHotKey. The older tablet he used has a very useful 4-way button that was removed on the newer model.

The exisiting buttons are a bit awkward in their position, as when you use it in horizontal mode. It's hard to hit shift+ctrl with your left index and second finger. What is possible, but not implemented is a means of making touchscreen hotkeys. This is what I am looking for, and will write myself if I can't find one. Ideally it would be a row of floating hotkeys on the left side of the screen for this right-hander.

One other point, I tried several pen drivers with dubious results. I was getting pressure sensitivity in Photoshop but not Zbrush. Finally I tried these from Fujitsu :

I needed to manually delete the other drivers, but once installed, these give the pressure sensitivity in Zbrush I was expecting. Also, with these drivers the tablet properties in Zbrush preferences are accessible.

Here is the best solution I found. I ordered a Logitech N 305 External keypad. I then remapped the keys with a program called Key Tweak. It is very smooth, unlike the onscreen keyboards. I finally am satisfied.
