Sharing Custom Hotkeys?

I’ve been using my own custom hotkeys for years now, in each new version of ZB I load the file and it works. I went from Win 7 to Win 10 and it still works.
Now I sent the file to a colleage, and he loads it but not all hotkeys work for him.

We both use ZB 2019. We’re both on Windows. My OS is in German, though, and his is in English. But I didn’t use any special characters for the hotkeys, just regular letters and F2, F3 etc.

I noticed that, when you use the Hotkeys palette in the Preferences, it points to a folder in My Documents. Plus there is another location for a hotkey file in the Program files folder, in ZStartup\Hotkeys.

Where exactly does ZB need the hotkey file to make it work?

The file location for the startup hotkeys on Windows is C:\Users\Public\Documents\ZBrushData2019\ZStartup\Hotkeys\StartupHotkeys.TXT

The alternative location in the ZBrush install folders is for the factory settings.

You can save and load hotkey files by using the Save & Load buttons in the Preferences>Hotkeys sub-palette. If you want to then use those hotkeys as your default all you need to do is press Preferences>Hotkeys>Store.

Note that keyboards vary from country to country so some hotkeys won’t be the same.
