Setting up a custom brush

I set up a custom brush based on the “tracks1” brush. Now I’d like to be able to RGB paint with it while I sculpt so the indentations and raised spots are auto filled with color. I examined the settings in the standard brush for the painting settings and I did a forum search without success. What am I missing here?

Hi Nancyan,

I am guessing it has something to do with your alpha that your using in your Tracks1 brush. Could you post a pic of that alpha?

Thanks for the help zber2. There’s no black in the alpha. I’m posting a version of what I’m using. Except for a little bit of cropping its the same thing.

Sorry Nancyan! Adding a transparent texture would have been a solution, but the “Transparent Texture” button doesn’t seem to be working in ZBrush 4. I also tried this in ZBrush 3.5R3, but it’s the same thing there. This has me stumped  . As you can see in the image below, the Transparent Texture button is on and the texture shows up as transparent in the Texture icon, but it still paints the black background. I have checked and triple checked that the texture background is indeed RGB 0,0,0, which it is.

FAO aurick, please chime in on this. I will probably kick myself in the ass later, but I would really like to know why the “Transparent Texture” button isn’t working or why it is painting the black background. Thanks!

edit: Nancyan, I’ll post the texture in case you want to try it on your computer.

Ooo a matching TEXTURE! I knew there was something I was missing. I expected it to just paint thru the alpha, but the texture would be a great solution. Incredibly helpful! I was wasting too much time on this, thanks so much Zber2
