Serious question about creating textures from polypaint?

Ok guys so, when i use create from poly paint to get the texture, once i get the texture, the texture kinda moves out of place a bit…like it shifts a bit out of place a little. Is that suppose to happen?? please help…thanks

like shown here in this video???

Hi @rshadio ,

When the texture button is off you’re seeing the polypaint from the vertex color of a high resolution mesh. When the texture button is on you’re seeing the color from an image based on the UV mapping of a low res mesh. It’s inevitable there will be a minimal degree of color shift as those two situations are not 100% the same. They are affected by variables like the resolution of your UV texture map vs the resolution of the mesh, as well as the way the UVs are laid out. Stretched or distorted UVs may introduce display issues.

To minimize this create your UV map at higher resolution. (Texture > UV Map> UV Map Size). This will allow the texture to more accurately capture the detail from the high res mesh.

A very slight shifting is inevitable in many situations. If you see a more drastic shift, this could indicate local issues with the UV mapping.
