Serial Number Question

I bought the full version of ZBrush, and was reading the instructions for obtaining a permanent license when I happened across this:

“Be certain you’re going to continue running ZBrush from the hard disk on which it currently resides. You may move it to another location on the same disk, but ZBrush will not recognize your User License if copied to another disk.”

Uhm… okay. So what happens when I inevitably get a new machine (something I’m planning to do next year)? Do I have to buy ZBrush again? Or buy a side-grade, just because I’m upgrading my computer? That seems extraordinarily harsh on the wallet.

Anyone here have any experience switching ZBrush to another machine?

I haven’t changed my machine, but I think the answer is, you just email for a new serial number.
Dave.

Dave’s right.

The folks at Pixologic are very proactive in their customer service. The readme file that comes with ZBrush tells you how to get a replacement temp serial number, and then it’s just a simple matter of sending the right stuff to Pixologic to get your permanent one. It’ll take you longer to get your other stuff configured on the new system how you want it than it will take to be up and running again with ZBrush.

I know how you feel Felderin. I read that to and it scared me. It didn’t come across all that clear. I wrote pixologic for a further explanation. I never did get a reply. Imagine they are busy this time of year. Like the rest of us. I’m getting a new hd next week. Hopefully it all goes well.

recently ,when i change for Window XP, i need a new serial number from Pixologic and they sent me without problem. In spring 2002,i will change my computer and still i will need a new one.But what happen with my Zbrush if Pixologic close and i will need sn again ?

You email them. I crashed once and upgraded once and got my new numbers within a day. Unbelievable customer service. I wish some of the other software companies I work with were as fast and friendly.
