Selecting just polygroup and not edgeloop

Cant find an answer for this anywhere:

When selecting polygroups with the select lasso or select rectangle tool it often selects polyloops or edgeloops instead. Is there anyway to turn off the selection of edgloops when trying to select just polygroups. Its really anoying when trying to select multiple polygroups quickly.

I was also was wondering if there is a way to add to the selection of polygroup masks. For example I would like to mask one polygroup and then hold a button like Shift to be able to add or subtract another polygroup to the existing masked selection.

Thank You!

Select Lasso has the ability to select geo strips (you’ll see a little yellow line go from the center of a polygon towards an edge), selectRect does not have this function.

Zmodeler has a way to do what you want, but your mesh can’t have subD levels so I find it kind of useless.

thanks for your reply. What I am trying to do is quickly hide and/or reveal whole polygroups quickly and efficiently. The problem is that half the time i click the edgeloop in a polygroup on accident and therefore it just hides that edgeloop instead of the whole polygroup. So in essence it slows down what I am doing tremendously. I was wondering if there was a way to turn off the edgeloop selection so that no matter where I click on the polygroup the whole polygroup goes away.

The Lasso stroke is the only one that can select edge loops. Just use a different stroke with the Select brush like Rectangle or Circle.

Hey That works! I mainly use the lasso select so I never tried the others much. Simple enough. Thanks!
