Select Lasso Always Selects Lower Res

When I try and select and area with the Select Lasso tool, even when I have the higher resolution of a sub-tool selected, when I select an area it changes over the the lower res.

Why does this happen?

I’d just delete the lower res, but it’s grayed out. Why is this?

This is a ztool I found online, and I’l trying to cut an area out of it…

You’re using Dynamic Subdivision which only previews the higher resolutions. If you want to use Classic Subdivision, which creates actual high resolution geometry, then:

  1. If necessary, press the Higher Res button so that the high resolution is displayed.
  2. In the Dynamic Subdiv section, turn off the Dynamic switch.
  3. Press the Divide button until you have the resolution you want.
